A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING ALLISON KELLOGG OF MADISON COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, UPON BEING SELECTED THE 1999 MISSISSIPPI JUNIOR MISS.

WHEREAS, Miss Allison Kellogg of Madison, Mississippi, has been selected the 1999 Mississippi Junior Miss and will compete in the national finals in Mobile, Alabama, in June 1999; and

WHEREAS, Allison is the first Mississippi Junior Miss winner from Madison County in 23 years; and

WHEREAS, her high school honors and awards are quite impressive, including the following: Who's Who Among American High School Students; 1998 International Ballet Competition School Full Scholarship; county and regional first place winner and honorable mention at national level for the 1998 D.A.R. essay contest; received all A's in Grade 10 with a present GPA of 4.17; reporter for the Student Government Association; National Science Merit Award in Grade 11; recipient of Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet scholarship in Grades 9-11; cast as "Pretty Girl #1" in the movie "My Dog Skip"; selected as a Page for the American Swedish Business Conference; President of the Sister Cities Club; Vice-President of the Bible Study Club; spiritual advisor for Madison United Methodist Church Youth Group; French Club Reporter; member of the Beta Honor Society; MCTA news anchor in Grade 11; and member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; and

WHEREAS, her community service activities include the following: ballet class instructor for disadvantaged girls at the Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet; dance performances for the Bond Home, St. Catherine's Village and various churches; Habitat For Humanity house project; American Diabetes Association fund-raiser; served as host family for students from Sweden and Kyrgystan; volunteer nursery work at Madison United Methodist Church; and fund-raiser for needy children at the Swedish Sister Cities Festival; and

WHEREAS, Allison will serve as 1999 Mississippi Junior Miss for one year and is an excellent role model for the youth of our state which are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Allison Kellogg of Madison, Mississippi, upon being selected the 1999 Mississippi Junior Miss, and wish her success in the national competition to be held in June of this year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to Allison Kellogg and her family and be made available to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
